Read the Deadline Article: Filmmaker Creates First Gender Fluid Commercial Spec To Break Stereotypes In Advertising
“ECLIPSE” is a high-fashion commercial with a love story at its core between two non-binary/ gender fluid people.
It tells the tale of two people falling in love – no gender stereotype, no BOUNDARIES.
Film and television are the most powerful mediums in the world. Advertising changes the way we look at things and gets into our subconscious. Therefore, we have a responsibility to advertise products with an eye to represent all genders, races, sexual preferences, religions etc…
That’s what Eclipse does.
It shows that two people, no matter how they identify, could fall in love and it be completely natural.
Representation matters
THE IMPACT
CAUSE MARKETING –
What is cause marketing? Cause marketing is defined as a type of corporate social responsibility, in which a company’s promotional campaign has the dual purpose of increasing profitability while bettering society.
Consumers are getting more socially conscious. People now choose to buy products from companies that support a cause. It’s important to have a stance behind every product you sell.
That’s why this commercial is breaking boundaries.
When you see a fashion commercial, whether it be perfume, makeup, hair, etc, there is always the same type of person representing the product. It is only in the last few years that runway and fashion have embraced curvy figures and darker skin complexions. While we are on the right track, we still have far to go.
YOU HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE THIS.
With your support and generosity, you can help ensure that diversity is represented in modern day advertising. This is huge.
